Connect via Hosts File

Edit your Windows hosts file to route Growtopia to Firefly. Requires Notepad++ and administrator access.

Requirements

Setup Instructions

  1. Install Notepad++

    Download and install Notepad++ from notepad-plus-plus.org. This is required to edit the hosts file with administrator privileges.

  2. Run Notepad++ as Administrator

    Right-click the Notepad++ shortcut and select Run as Administrator. This is necessary to modify system files.

  3. Open the Hosts File

    Navigate to the hosts file location. Copy the path below for quick access.

  4. Add Firefly Host Lines

    Copy the host lines from the panel on the right and paste them at the end of your hosts file.

  5. Save the File

    Press Ctrl + S to save the changes. If prompted about administrator access, confirm the action.

  6. Launch Growtopia

    Open Growtopia and log in. You are now connected to Firefly Private Server.

Notes

Reverting Changes

To return to official Growtopia, remove the two Firefly lines from your hosts file and save. The change takes effect immediately.

Connection Issues

If Growtopia still connects to the official server, flush your DNS cache by running ipconfig /flushdns in Command Prompt as Administrator.
